 Green tea is produced from the plant leaves of camellia sinensis.it is one of the most popular healthy beverages world wide.it contains proteins,  polyphenols,  flavonoids which contains  four main catechins which areepicatechin (EC)6% ,epcatechin 3-gallate(ECG)14%,epigallocatechin(EGC)19% and epigallocatechin3gallate(EGCG)59%,aminoacids suchas theanine,glutamicacid,tryptophan,glycine,serine,asparticacid,tyrosine,valine,leucine,threonine, Argnine,andlysine. carbohydrates such as cellulose,pectin,glucose,fructose,and sucrose,
minerals and trace elements such as  calcium,magnesium,chromium,manganese,iron,copper,zinc,molybedium,selenium,sodium,phosphorus,cobalt,strontium,nickel,potassium,fluroide,aluminum, and trace amount of lipids(linoleic and alpha linoleic acids,sterols  (stigmasterol)vitamin B,C,E,Xanthic bases(caffeine,theophylline),pigments (chlorophyll,carotenoids)and volatile compounds such as Alcohol,esthers,lactones and hydrocarbon.
Green tea has numerous health benefits it has anticarcinogenic, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, and antioxidant properties. It also has great benefits in preventing and alleviating cardiovascular diseases and oral health. The ECGC catechin has been found responsible for its anti-carcinogenic property. A daily drink of 3-5 cups (1200ml/day)of green tea provides a minimum of 250mg/day of catechins.

Recent studies have found that green tea was positive for reducing cancer risk in breast, cardiac, colorectal, esophageal, gastric, lungs, ovarian, pancreatic, and prostate. Studies have also shown a decrease in the death rate due to cardiovascular disease, a reduction in body fat, blood pressure, and low cholesterol, and a decrease in the risk of myocardial infarction among those who consume green tea. Consumption of green tea among diabetic patients recorded a reduction in fasting blood glucose levels.

Green tea's antimicrobial properties help it to fight a large number of bacteria, viruses fungi, and parasites. the bacteria include strains of E-coil, enterococcus, helicobacter pylori, proteus, pseudomonas, streptococcus, salmonella, bacillus, vibrio, and yernia. the virus includes Epstein -bar virus, Hepatitis B, C, influenza, HIV-1, HSV-1, the fungi include Actinomyces spp, Aspergillus niger, and Candida albicans. its anti-inflammatory properties help it to prevent and alleviate rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis.it prevents oxidative stress.

Consumption of green tea will help to prevent and reduce periodontitis and dental caries, it fights against bacterial mouth flora such as streptococcus mutans. It has an antibacterial effect on the main bacteria (porphyromonas gingivitis) involved in gingivitis.
