 To build your immunity, especially during this period of Covid-19, various teas can respond to your immunity and help your body to achieve a high level of optimal immunity. your immune system is the powerhouse of your body. A weaker immune system exposes the body to different illnesses and diseases. Teas are the most consumed beverage in the world today. it is best to satisfy your thirst by drinking healthy teas which can build, repair and restore your body immunity.

Some of the teas which can boost your immunity include but are not limited to Green teas, Black teas, Oolong teas, Moringa teas, Lemon teas, Ginger tea, Turmeric tea, and Lemongrass teas. One common quality of these teas is that they contain bioactive substances that make them antioxidant,anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-cancer. These phytochemical substances include polyphenols, flavanols, vitamins, minerals, essential oils and enzymes. Herbal teas have the ability to block the body from acquiring diseases hence showing protective power and rebuilding the mind, body, and soul hence providing clear vision. regular drinking of these immune-boosting teas gives the sound mind, body, and soul

To maintain a constant immunity in this Covid era, there is an adequate need to equip yourself with the right teas. body immunity should be at an optimal level at any given time. drinking teas should also be a preventive measure against Covid-19 and not just social distancing, vaccination, self-isolation, and practicing good hygiene. To reduce the effects of any virus,  bacteria, fungi, and protozoa, we must also increase our consumption of healthy drinks.  Herbal tea drinking is healthy and must be put into consideration.

TUMERIC TEA RECIPES

Turmeric tea is a golden-yellow colored and great immune booster tea that contains anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties. it is a good tea for pain relief.

Turmeric tea is easy to make even though it has some limitations which is its staining property. while preparing fresh turmeric tea, it can stain your fingernails, cup, and utensils. but don’t worry about this because the stain is not permanent and can be easily washed off. Turmeric tea is a lifesaver tea.

Here is a simple way to prepare your turmeric tea.

1.      gently scrape the back of your fresh turmeric

2.      wash the scraped turmeric in a clean water

3.      Using a grater, grate your turmeric

4.      put the turmeric into a tea kettle and pour hot water into the kettle

5.      leave it for about 3-5 minutes to brew

6.      sieve your tea

you will have golden-yellow tea.

                   MORINGA TEA RECIPES

Anyone can prepare a moringa tea, it is an easy tea to make. Moringa tea is healthy for your body and requires minimal effort to make. it is known for its antioxidant, anticancer, and anti-bacterial properties.

Here are the simple steps to make the tea.

·            Remove the fresh Moringa leaves from the stalk

·         Wash the leaves in a cold clean water 

        Put it in a kettle and pour in hot wate

·         Allow it to brew for 3-5 minutes  

        Sieve the tea .

Cough has posed a significant health burden on families and society and is a common ailment for children and adults. It can be caused by microorganisms such as bacteria, viruses, fungi, protozoans, and parasites. It is a non-specific symptom of various diseases resulting in acute respiratory infections these include; Asthma, protracted bacterial bronchitis, chronic ear, nose, and throat disease, gastroesophageal reflux, bronchial responsiveness after infection such as syncytial virus, rhinovirus, or pertussis. cough and sore throat can be triggered by stress and environmental factors (dust, cold, and air pollution)  respiratory infections, allergies, or food triggers

To soothe your cough and sore throat, herbal teas offer great relief: LEMON TEA, GINGER TEA, HONEY TEA, LICORICE TEA, and GINSENG TEA.

1.      GINGER TEA: Ginger has been used in treating respiratory illness, A study has revealed that ginger can suppress allergic reactions in patients with Asthma. It exerts antimicrobial, and anti-inflammatory properties and contains chemical components which have been found to suppress allergic reactions in patients with Asthma.

2.      LEMON TEA: Lemon contains vitamin C which is a powerful antioxidant and is known for its immune-building, antibacterial, and antiviral qualities.  A study has shown that honey and lemon significantly reduced the severity of the cough.

3.      HONEY TEA: Honey is found to be rich in vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and antibacterial compounds. it also contains carbohydrates, amino acids, trace elements, and flavonoids. its chemical composition comprises seven tetracyclines, fatty acids, lipids, amylase, peroxidase, and fructose hence its ability to fight bacteria found in the upper respiratory tract such as staphylococcus aureus and streptococcus faecalis. Honey offers great health benefits in terms of suppressing cough and respiratory infections among children. honey can be used with any type of tea depending on the drinker's choice. 

4.      LICORICE TEA: Licorice is known for its anti-inflammatory, antiviral, antimicrobial, antioxidative, and anti-immunomodulating activities .it has been found to reduce cough and sore throat induced by intubation

5.      GINSENG TEA: Ginseng tea is known for its immune-boosting, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. it is used for suppressing chronic cough. A study revealed an increase in the survival rate of the epithelial cells of the lungs of patients suffering from influenza A  who consumed ginseng.

1.   CINNAMON TEA: Cinnamon contains chemical compounds that aid in its ability to be a potent anti-obstructive agent which is effective in lung obstruction. it has a high penetrating power into the chest and can clear phlegm. It helps in breathing, cleans, and warms the chest and lungs. It is beneficial in relieving Asthma, shortness of breath, and cough
